For those of you who have biked, there is one thing that I think that we can all agree on. Going downhill while biking is one of the best things about biking. Who doesn’t love that wind in their face and they speed down a hill? The arduous trip up to the top of the hill just to go down on it from the peak is totally fun. I really mean it. I know, sometimes the hills are so steep that you have to walk your bike up the hill. It’s okay, no one is expecting to really kill your calves in your legs just to get to the top. I mean seriously, you need to save your energy to continue biking. Don’t waste all of your energy trying to actually pedal uphill all of the time. Even on the lower gears, you’re still straining and pushing yourself too hard just to enjoy a good downhill ride. Ah yeah, you better brake carefully going downhill because the rock can be bumpy and the paths can be narrow. Man, that feeling as the cool wind hits your face, so worth it the trek up the hill. Up and down like a roller coaster again and again. Biking is actuallly really like riding a roller coaster. A more cheaper fun way for me at least. One, you can take your bike anywhere whereas the roller coaster are always in an amusement park. Two, bike trail are plentiful and pretty empty compared to waiting in line for short roller coaster ride. I love seeing my fellow bikers out there on the trail. It’s cool to see others who share this passion of biking as much as I do. I’m like, “So when are we gonna downhill again?”.
I read on how to properly mountain bike online and they recommend that when you go downhill, you stand on your pedal and hold your handle bars really tight. This allows your body to absorb the shock of riding over anything that’s on your path. Things like rocks, holes and uneven terrain cause your bike to be unbalanced for short periods of time. Of course the momentum of your bike accelerating downhill keeps your bike stable. You still want to stand up because your body is more stable standing than sitting on the seat while absorbing shock. When you feel that you are going too fast, keep your fingers on the brakes and use them slowly to control your speed. You don’t want to go so fast that you hit a large rock that your bike can’t simply ride over.
I love going downhill when it all goes down. So I’ve fallen before. Bruises heal and it’s the wind I feel. I land on my heel, but keep pedaling the wheel. Yeah, good stuff. I rhyme, ’cause I like to have a good time. So yeah, if you get a mountain bike, careful out there and try to go before the sun goes down. You need sunlight to steer you back home! Happy adventuring and go downhill for the kill!
